Rules Concerning This Site and its Content

  • This site is a community of members, not a site run by staff. Members suggestions will ALWAYS be heard and the members will be frequently asked for their input on rules, information and features of the game. No one will be ignored, but please try to post reasonable suggestions.
  • This is not a warez/porn/hacking site. Please do not post links to inappropriate content or sites containing this content in public forums. Links to porn, warez, cracks, hacking materials, etc, will be deleted. Members who post these links will be reprimanded, and should they continue, will have further punishment dealt. Additionally, inappropriate pictures and porn will not be tolerated.
  • Spamming will not be tolerated. "Spam stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages" (Urban Dictionary) Please make your posts count.
  • Other than posts made by players, all content of this site is copywrited to Star Wars: Carbon. Using any content, graphics, or other aspects of this site without permission will not be tolerated. If you wish to use any content, graphics or other, please request permission of the site staff.
  • This site allows mature roleplay content such as adult themes. There is no age limit placed on this site, but be aware of the content. If you are under the age of eighteen, please respect the wishes of your parents and/or guardians regarding mature content. Star Wars: Carbon will not be held liable for minors viewing inappropriate material.
  • Any mature roleplay content is to be clearly marked in the TITLE of the roleplay by preceding the title with the tag [MA] or [Rated: Mature] or some variation of it. If you do not wish to view mature content, please avoid any roleplay topics with a mature tag on them.
  • Explicit descriptions of bodily parts that are considered inappropriate is not permitted, if you wish to write a post regarding such things do so in a tasteful manner, feelings and thoughts are better then any heavy description.
  • Although profanity is allowed in roleplay, please try to keep it down in the OOC topics.

Concerning Members

  • You may reveal as much information about yourself as you wish, but be aware that this may not be in your best interest. This site holds no liability for any information you give.
  • Do not give out your password! This allows people to edit your posts or post as you. Don't give it out. If you have a problem, please PM a staff member or post in the Feedback forum.
  • The work that you post on this site is your own, and not owned by this site or its staff. Anyone wishing to use material in posts made by players will need to obtain permission from that specific player. If anyone disregards this courtesy, we will assist you in retrieving your work, but realize that you are responsible for your own work, not us. We cannot be held liable for damages.
  • Members will not be allowed to comment on other members profiles. We cannot stress this enough as it can and often does resort in someone flaming someone else. Staff are the only members that will be allowed to comment on profiles, as it is our job.
  • Most importantly, members are required to show each other respect. You may not harass or threaten other members. Disrespectful behavior, such as derogatory comments containing racism, homophobia, or foul language will not be allowed. Please be respectful to all members, regardless of age or experience.
  • If two members have a conflicting story and both have been arguing, then both members will be put under the grouping of Time Out where they will see only one board and discuss with Staff and the one they are having the conflict with to resolve the issue, or find who is really at fault.

Duties of an Administrator and Moderators

  • Just as there as responsibilities for the members to uphold, there are for the administrator and moderating team.
  • Enforcing the rules.
  • Maintaining the board and site.
  • Editing or deleting posts when necessary: situations include when a member has requested me to, or when I see a violation of the rules. Any edits will be marked.
  • Keeping the board running smoothly, although we are not responsible for the RPG's downtime. If we know when the site will be down, we will try to let you know. This site is hosted on an external server which is subject to infrequent downtimes.
  • Administrators/Mods are not above the standard rules. If an administrator/mod is found breaking the rules they will be subject to a temporary revoking of their position. If the rule infraction is serious enough in nature the rest of the staff will discuss a fitting punishment anywhere from permanent suspension of position to banishment from the board.
  • Administrators/Mods are not to reveal the inner workings of the team. If an administrator/mod is found leaking information to the rest of the members they are subject to a temporary or permanent revoking of their position.
  • Administrators/Mods who post a permanent leave of absence (LoA) will have their position revoked. Should that person return to the boards, the current staff will discuss on whether or not to reinstate said persons position as it makes a bad impression on the other members.

Registration

  • Please read all rules and information before writing an application. This is not any of the previous sites you have been on, you may not simply post the profile or format you used on any of them. Profiles that do not adhere to the story or timeline will not be accepted.
  • This RP allows and may contain mature content in roleplay. If you are offended by violence, sexual activity, profanity or adult themes, please do not join this site. There is no age limit, only what you think you can handle. If you are a minor, please respect the wishes of your parents and/or guardians regarding mature content. We will not be held accountable if you dislike mature content.
  • You are required to register on both the Board and the Wiki.

Graphics

  • After being approved and active in the Roleplaying section you will have a Banner for your character added into the rotation at the top of the page, if you have any problems with the banner put up please notify an Art Team member.
  • If you have been RPing for some time and have not got a Banner added into the rotation you are free to inquire, but do not harrass the Art Team, as they are busy making many other wonderful things for the site.
  • Avatar sizes are to be no greater then 25kb and dimensions no bigger then 140x140
  • In regards to Signatures, they are preferred and appreciated to be under the 50kb size, and dimensions no bigger then 450x200
  • You may make graphics requests in the allocated forum.
  • Those of you with graphics ability may be eligable to become a part of an Art Team in the near future.

Wiki

  • You are requested to edit and keep up to date your character profile page on the wiki.
  • Editing of any other page other then your own is strictly forbidden unless you have the owner's permission as well as an Admin's permission.
  • You may apply at any time to be a part of the Wiki Team and help to keep the Wiki updated and working smoothly.

Gameplay

  • When roleplaying please make sure you clearly have down what planet you are on and make sure it is under the correct forum that contains that particular planet. FOR EXAMPLE:

Topic Title Midnight Stroll (Coruscant) OR Topic Title Midnight Stroll Topic Description Coruscant

  • Also have the setting clearly marked out in the first post including details of time and the location of where they are on that planet.
  • Please post regularly. We know people have lives, but remember that you made a commitment to post when you joined an RP thread. If you're going to be leaving for a certain time, please let people know by posting in the RP thread's OOC Roleplay Discussion topic or a separate announcement.
  • Posts should be at least two paragraphs in length with at minimum four or five lines each.
  • You may only control your own characters. Using another player's character without their permission is called godmodding/power playing and will not be allowed. If you wish to include another character in your post, make sure that the character has already been posted performing that action/speaking/etc. or that you have the permission of the player to do so.
  • When applying for a profile there is a question you are asked, the question's answer this month is Boba Fett.
  • Your character is not omniscient. They cannot read minds or feel detailed emotions. Even with Force Powers, Force Users cannot read minds, and emotions can be sensed but not normally in great detail. If your character can do either of these, it would have to be explicitly explained in their profile. Your character can react to the other character's actions, appearance, speech, etc, but keep what you know and what your character knows separate.
  • Please keep things open ended in your posts, do not force perceptions or actions on other characters. Your character may try to look cool, but not everyone will perceive him/her as such. Or they may try to convince others of something, but may not be successful.
  • No godmodding. You may not make your characters invincible or all-powerful. This does not always mean combat. Godmodding is unfair to other players and makes the roleplay boring, and will not be tolerated by the site.
  • Please post in the third person in roleplays. Journals/history and thoughts in RP posts may be posted in first person.
  • Profanity is allowed. Make it creative, though. Star Wars has some colorful curses.
  • Please make your character's intentions clear, as we cannot hear the tone of their voice, or see their facial expressions. If you can describe them, do so, but make sure the players know what your character means, even if their characters don't.
  • Death is a natural part of life, even in a roleplaying game. Your character can die in this game, but not likely without your permission. Permission is automatically granted when you enter in combat with another character, or perform a risky activity. If you enter into combat, you and the other player(s) are free to talk it out to decide the outcome, but you may also be faced with an outcome you don't like. If you enter combat, fight it out, make it enjoyable to read. Should any disputes arise, the staff will consider the roleplay and characters and decide the outcome.
  • Please be aware that if you perform any godmodding, abuse, etc. you may be asked to edit your post. Also, if you misinterpret or mis-state anything of another character, you may also be asked to edit your post. Please respect these requests, as players like their characters properly represented, and the staff would like to have you edit your own posts instead of forcing an edit on you.
  • All characters must have an approved profile before they can be roleplayed. Any characters starting higher than the basic level must have an additional roleplay application submitted and approved for that character. Check the Faction Information area for more information.
  • You may have a solo roleplay thread, close it to invited characters, or leave it open for everyone. Please use the topic description or a small explanation in your first post to let us know.
  • Characters may be in more than one thread in the General Role Play forum so long as they do not conflict in any way. Try not to let events or stories overlap unless the threads have finished.
  • Characters may only be involved in on Galactic Scenario at a time unless discussed with the Staff and it is clearly before or after the other one.
  • If you do not wish to continue a solo roleplay or an open thread has not had anyone join for over a month, please contact a staff member to close and archive it. Inactive roleplays will be archived regularly, usually between the period of a month to six weeks.
  • If you must make OOC comments in a roleplay thread, tag them with "OOC" or something so we know that they are not part of the RP. Please use the OOC Roleplay Discussion forum for longer conversations.
  • CAPITAL LETTERS WILL BE READ AS SHOUTING. Use bold for emphasis.
  • You may need to specify who your character is speaking to. Make their actions and dialogue clear if you need to.
  • This site is focused on roleplay, which requires writing. Please use correct spelling, punctuation, grammar to the best of your ability. Use a word processor or online document/spell checker to check before you post. Google Documents is useful for this, or Microsoft Word. Leet/1337 speak, chatspeak (brb, kewl, lol), or non-formal language will not be tolerated in posts and you will be asked to edit.
  • Please try to make your roleplay posts a good length. One or two sentences WILL NOT be accepted. You are not expected to write a novel, but try to respond in kind to the length that the previous player used, if applicable. If not, three well-written paragraphs (paragraphs are generally between 3-6 sentences) is a good length.
  • Remember that different speakers require their own paragraphs in English. And that paragraphs are spaced to make it easier to read. Indentation is not required.
